Post 459 Dixie Vincent Memorial Scholarship
This annual $1,000 scholarship is being presented in honor of our sister, Dixie Vincent. Dixie was our club manager, friend, and a true patriot. The recipient of this award should feel truly honored to win this award bearing her name.
Eligibility:
There are 2 ways to be eligible for this scholarship:
- Any high school senior enrolled in a Kent County high school and is a descendant of a U.S. veteran is eligible to apply.
- Any Kent County High School Senior, who is in a high school military-related training program is also eligible to apply. To clarify, we mean programs such as JROTC, Sea Cadets, Young Marines, and other similar programs.
Please note: students in such military-related training programs do not need to be a descendant of a U.S. veteran to apply for this scholarship.
Application Procedure:
Please fill out the application form and return it to Post 459 by midnight May 6, 2025. You may drop the application off at Post 459 or mail it to Education Chair, American Legion NE 459 Auxiliary Unit, 658 Michigan St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. Applications will be examined by a committee from Post 459 and a decision will be made. Only the winner will be notified.
Award Presentation:
A check for $1,000 will be presented to the recipient when our committee receives a copy of the recipient's proof of enrollment for one of the following semesters: summer 2025, fall 2025, or winter 2026.
